This week’s learning snapshot…

Reception

This week we have continued our work around the text ‘I Will Not Ever Never Eat a Tomato’. The kids have been giving advice to Lola to stop being such a fussy eater by using their imagination to rename some food with much more exciting names, in the same way that Charlie –Lola’s brother– did to entice her.

Year 1

We have been applying the drama skills we learned from the actors at the Globe in our story whoosh. We have some real thespians in the making!

Year 2

We have been really enjoying our drama workshops in literacy and have been making links to our trip to The Globe to inspire our understanding of character’s in the play through acting and performance!

Year 3

We had the most amazing day at the Ukulele Concert at the Royal Festival Hall yesterday! We practiced songs all morning with a quick break for lunch and a play on the Southbank before the concert at 2pm! We all sang our hearts out at the same time as playing our ukuleles brilliantly with accompanying actions! WELL DONE Year 3! Thank you very much to all the parent volunteers, we couldn’t have done it without you!

Year 4

We have been using our imagining tools to imagine we are witches. We acted out the first scene of our Shakespeare play, Macbeth and created some really terrifying characters whilst doing it. We have also been using our planning tools to start making a model of the Globe Theatre.

Year 5

We have been using our reasoning tool to understand the language in The Tempest. We also used our empathy tool to help us understand how the characters would feel to be in the middle of an enchanted storm.

Year 6

We have jumped head first into Romeo and Juliet (a tale of two star-crossed lovers) by investigating an incident that involved our two main characters. Using our asking questions tool, we became detectives investigating the incident.

PE Update

Swimming Gala On Wednesday some of our Year 5 children went to their first ever swimming gala at JAGS with Miss Sinéad, Miss Rowe & Mr Sean. All the adults were so proud of the children’s ‘can do’ attitude and team spirit!

Climbing – a huge congratulations to Joey (Y5) who came second in his trip to the Scottish Bouldering Championships last weekend; this was the last round for the national bouldering series this year. He came second overall in the UK and Ireland for boys under 12. If he continues to do well it looks likely he will be asked to represent the British team in Europe over the summer, so fingers crossed!

Music Update
