Eid Celebration

A huge thank you to all the children and Parents who took part in our special Eid Assembly on Monday. At Dulwich Wood we are committed to reflecting the different religions and diversity of the families in our school community.

Mums for Lungs

This week we were part of the Mums For Lungs ScienceFest!  It’s a celebration of clean air, collaborating with some of the most prestigious scientific organisations in the UK. Dr Pia Hardelid, an epidemiologist who works at UCL and Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health delivered a workshop to the Science Ambassadors introducing them to epidemiology, the power of asking the right questions and how she uses data for child public health research. She also talked about how children’s home life and their walk to school may be affected by the quality of air they breathe. Next half term, our Learning Journey is ‘Healthy Lifestyles’ so we’ll be learning more about the importance of clean air and looking after our lungs!

PE Updates

Six children from Dulwich Wood took part in their first hockey tournament with their club, THD Phoenix. The children were wonderful ambassadors of Dulwich Wood, working really well as a team.

THD Phoenix will be holding hockey trials for all Year 4 pupils on 7th June, if your child gets selected they will be invited to join the club for free, the club trains on a Sunday morning at Dulwich College.

Also, our Lower Key Stage 2 gymnastic team were outstanding, coming 2nd place in their competition on Monday, Curtis from Year 1 was selected to step up and join the squad. A huge well done to the team.
