Learning Journey – Legacy Builders
A Snapshot of our Week…
Reception: This week we finished reading Halibut Jackson, and as he decided to open his own clothes shop, the children have been writing signs and posters for the items on sale, using their perseverance with their phonics.
Year 1: We have used our asking questions tool to unravel a mystery we found in our corridor. We discovered sea related items, beautiful jewellery and a letter from the Majestic Fish. We think a mermaid might have visited! We will keep investigating. In RE we have been talking about the Christmas Story and we enjoyed a trip to St. Stephen’s Church where we were able to ring the bells, wear priest clothes and ask lots of questions.
Year 2: We have had such a busy week! We have been using our collaboration tool as we work with Year 1 to rehearse our Winter Show AND we have really been using our perseverance tool to tackle some very challenging maths problems involving subtraction across tens!
Year 3 We have written some fabulous setting descriptions of a Tin Forest come to life, and we have also started planning a persuasive leaflet. We have also learned about Marcus Rashford and discussed why he is a role model for society.
Year 4: We’ve had a fantastic time in science this week, learning about more about states of matter. We took a solid (chocolate) and observed how it can change into a liquid and then back into a solid. The best part was that we got to eat our investigation – now that’s the way to do science!
*Today we had the privilege of meeting Eoin Colfer at Dulwich College. He was hilarious and told some really runny stories. Many children bought his new book Junipers Christmas, which Eoin had signed. Thankyou to the wonderful librarian Hazel at Dulwich College for setting this up and inviting us along.
Year 5: We have learnt about the different Gospel accounts of the traditional Christian Nativity story, and used our making links tool to discuss how it has been interpreted by different people. We have also used our empathy goggles to provide constructive feedback as we prepare for our performance of The Present.
Year 6: We have been making great use of our planning and asking questions tools this week, researching and writing biographies about the famous writer and abolitionist Ignatius Sancho. We’ve been focusing on using adverbials and a range of sentence starters to ensure cohesion between paragraphs.

Futsal Competition: We came second yesterday! The Sports Coaches also took groups of children bowling and ice skating this week. A huge thank you to Mr Sean and Miss Sinead for always going the extra mile!
Share and Care
Alma: This week’s Share and Care is about Dizzy’s winning design for the Space themed level in a children’s Hospital, The Evelina London. Dizzy’s design was transferred to the building and when it was officially opened Dizzy met Princess Kate. This entry is a perfect example of sharing and caring. Well done Dizzy !!

Dizzy: I was really nervous about meeting Princess Kate, but she was so friendly that all my nerves went away. I showed her my artwork that’s been painted on the wall and then got to walk around with her on a tour of the hospital. We ended the tour by cutting the ribbon with her. It was a super exciting day!!
