Learning Journey: Around the World in Half a Term
Our Learning this week:
Reception
We have carried on reading ‘Ning and the Night Spirits’. Ning has now made friends with the Night Spirits from the forest, so now we know that the townspeople are only afraid because they don’t know them at all. We have been practising using adjectives to describe some of the Night Spirits and then used our imagining tool to create wonderful posters, informing the townspeople that the Night Spirits are actually gentle, kind and friendly creatures!
Year 1
In geography we’ve been exploring the human and physical features within the seven continents of the world. This week we have been using our collaboration tool to further investigate the continent of Europe. We learnt that 742 million people live in Europe and that red squirrels are now endangered animals because of the threat from the grey squirrels. We can’t wait to find out about the other continents!
Year 2
This week was a very exciting week for Year 2! We built the boats that Finn uses for his adventure in our story ‘Ocean Meets Sky.’ We then used our imagining tool to act out Finn’s journey with our boats to help us prepare to write a ship captain’s log!
Year 3
Children have been using their making links tool to see which objects in the class are magnetic. We have also used our imagining tool whilst writing setting descriptions about beautiful forests!
Year 4
Children have persevered really well to finish their literacy topic by writing a wonderfully detailed biography of Harvey Milk. We have also used our making links tools to used related multiplication and division facts in maths, as well as our asking questions tool to sort a variety of British plants.
Year 5
Children have been using their perseverance and imagining tools in our final rehearsals for the play. We have gone over key moments in the script to make sure we are telling the story clearly and imaginatively. We have used our collaboration tool to support each learn lines and to work as an ensemble.
Year 6
This week we started a new book ‘The Promise’. Although we are only a few lessons in, we’ve been making links to stories we’ve read in other year groups. We also used our imagining tool with some absolutely brilliant and wonderfully creative figurative language in today’s lesson!

Running Club: well done to the Running Club for turning up in the pouring rain on Wednesday! They did an energetic HIIT session in the hall! Thanks to Mr Sean, Mr Greenwood and Mr Barton and all the other adults who support the Running Club!
