A snapshot of our Week:
Reception have been thinking all about perseverance, as Izzy Gizmo, the character from the story we are working on, gets very frustrated as a few of her inventions go wrong. The children have been fabulous at encouraging Izzy not to give up and to learn from her mistakes. They also have been great at giving her some wonderful advice for better ways to cope with her feelings when things don’t work out, like taking some deep breaths or going for a run.
Year 1 have started a new story The Tempest, using their imagining and collaboration tools to act out the beginning of the story using a playscript. The children have shown real enthusiasm for the play and have been fantastic at following the directions on the script, changing their facial expressions, tone of voice and body language then showing off their acting skills to each other.

Year 2 have really enjoyed making use of the outdoor learning area this week when we wrote some shape poems in English. We explored the gardens for inspiration about summer and then wrote our poems in the outdoor classroom- how lovely!
Year 3 have used our planning, perseverance and collaboration tools to make life sized skeletons in Science (they are bigger than some of us)! We learnt all about the different bones and then used what we had learnt to label our skeletons.
Year 4 love a quiz and this week the children were tasked with writing their own 5 lives quiz on all the different topics we have studied in science this year. It has been brilliant to see the extent of their knowledge and how well they have retained so many facts about states of matter, electricity, animals including humans and sound! Ask them anything about science and they will have the answer!
Year 5 have been using their collaboration, imagination and planning tools to create their own drawings of the Viking Tree of Life. They learnt about Viking mythologies and beliefs, building upon their knowledge from the Odd and the Frost Giants story we have been reading in literacy.
Year 6 have had a busy week out and about. On Monday, we went to the library to have a browse and hear all about the Summer Reading Challenge. On Tuesday, we went to the Queen Elizabeth Hall to perform at the Southwark Splash Music Festival, where we used our collaboration tool, singing as part of a large choir of Southwark schools. We have also been using our imagining tools to create stalls for the Dulwich Wood Summer Festival.

Chess Fest:
Chess Club had the best time at the Chess Festival, Rudy was the highest placed Dulwich Wood player with 11 points, he received a silver medal!
Everyone got a chance to play Bodhana Sivanandan, the nine-year-old chess prodigy who is set to make history as the youngest person ever to represent England internationally in any sport.

Athletics Team: Well done to our incredible team who braved the weather and won 16 out of 24 events!!!
