Learning Journey – Legacy Builders
Welcome Back, we hope you had a lovely break!

A huge thank you to Mr Chris, Dave & Leanne who worked tirelessly throughout half term, in the rain, to build an amazing deck for our caravan and to erect shelters in the bottom playground. Some children were so thrilled with these developments they spent their break times writing thank you letters and drawing pictures!
A Snapshot of our Week…
Reception: We have started to read the story ‘Look Up!’ by Nathan Bryon, about a little girl whose dream is to become an astronaut one day; we’ve been fantastic at using our imagination to think about what we would love to be when we grow up, drawing our future selves and using phonics knowledge to write captions for their pictures.
Year 1: We came across another mystery this week when a penguin unexpectedly appeared in our classroom. We have used our asking questions tool to try to find out more information about the lost creature and what we can do to help it. In math’s, we have been exploring fact families and finding all the 4 addition number sentences when given 3 different numbers.
Year 2: We have loved using our making links’ tool in History as we have started learning about the amazing legacy of Mary Seacole. We have really enjoyed building on our ‘World of Culture’ learning journey as we celebrate Black History Month this term.
Year 3: We have made some predictions about our new books for literacy and reading, which we are excited to start. We have also discussed our new science topic, light, and shared what we already know and what we would like to find out. We are also excited to learn about Walter Tull and Marcus Rashford for our legacy builders learning journey.
Year 4: We have loved using our imagining tool this week, coming up with some fantastic ideas to describe how a pencil sharpener could work, in the style of When I met Dudley. We have started our new Science topic; States of Matter and loved using our reasoning tool to work out why the raisins were dancing in the fizzy water. Don’t know? Ask year 4!
Year 5: We have been using our Imagining tools to help us get into different characters for our Year 5 drama project, ‘The Present’. We have also used our Making Links tools, using our developing dramatic skills to deliver powerful speeches in role as anti-apartheid campaigners.
Year 6: We have been using our asking questions tool to discover more about Amara – the main character in our new text Some Places More Than Others. We are excited to find out more!
