Learning Journey – Back to the Future
A Snapshot of our Week…
Reception: The children’s use of their imagining tool has been nothing short of super-amazing this week as they have been using it to come up with their own superhero personas, thinking about the superpowers they’d like to have, giving themselves superhero names and finally, designing their own fabulous costumes, all linked to their superpowers and new identities. Kaboom!
Year 1: We have been writing a new setting for our story ‘The Magic Bed’ and thinking of different ways our new characters will travel. The children were very good at using their imagining tool to come up with creative and exciting ideas. We can’t wait to read their new stories!
Year 2: We have been using our perseverance tool in maths as we have started a new unit on multiplication and division. We really used our making links tool to recognise equal groups of 2s, 5s and 10s.
Year 3: We have been using our empathy tools to send letters of advice to Mary Anning. We also went back in time to discover how life was lived in the Stone Age!
Year 4: We have been using our reasoning tools to analyse the evidence, theories and rumours around Tutankhamun’s death. Using our planning tools, we wrote speeches to persuade the rest of the class that the theory we chose was the real one! We found out all the gruesome details of mummification and finished the week, mummifying tomatoes!
Year 5: We have been using our making links tool in Computing. We are using The Tempest as a basis for creating a trailer on Windows Movie Maker. There has been lots of editing and experimenting!
Year 6: We have been finishing off our area, perimeter and volume topic in maths. Using our asking questions tool, we explored how to calculate the volume of a cuboid using cubes and formulae. In Literacy, we have been using our collaboration tool to edit our amazing stories in preparation for publishing them using computers.
PE Update

Running Competition: A huge thank you to Miss Shaw who organised a fantastic, long distance running House Competition at Dulwich College Track on Monday. She made sure there was a lap board, medals and even had the ‘Chariots of Fire’ sound track blasting from her speaker! So many KS2 children took part and absolutely loved it. Eagles won and Ethan (Y6) proved himself to be the fastest runner in the school! Medals were awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placed runners in each year group and everyone who took part was awarded a perseverance house point! All the children supported and cheered each other on. Thank you to all the Parents who came along for their support too.

Hockey Competition: Dulwich Wood UKS2 Hockey team came first in the Southwark games competition this week, a fantastic team effort with a special mention to Pearl (Y5) who was voted the player of the day!
