Learning Journey – Legacy Builders
A Snapshot of our Week…

Reception: We learnt some facts about meteor showers, the children were fantastic at using their making links tool to suggest what kind of things would be useful to take with us if we were going to watch a meteor shower, thinking about where we would need to go, the time of day and weather conditions we would need to prepare for.

Year 1: We have used our planning and imagining tools to plan our own story based on ‘Lost and Found’ in which we had to think about our main character and how they will find their way back home. How will they travel and who will help in their journey? We look forward to reading their stories!

Year 2: We loved using our collaboration tool in science this week! We carried out an investigation into the properties of materials and whether or not they could change shape. We had to work in groups to test each material and share our results!

Year 3: We have been exploring light and asking the question “Why do we need light to see?” We also had a great RE day on Monday and learnt all about Diwali. The whole school celebrated this festival with Steph (our special visitor) who danced and told us stories.

Year 4: We used our reasoning tools in science to investigate whether a space probe could land on the ocean of a newly discovered planet! We also used our collaboration tools, working in teams, to examine the sample of ocean, describe it’s properties and come to a conclusion! It was very exciting and their scientific reasoning skills were impressive!

Year 5: We made links between our drama, literacy and history by delivering speeches we had written in role as Nelson Mandela. The children did fantastically well, collaborating and using their empathy and perseverance tools to give constructive feedback and improve.

Year 6: We have had lots of fun using our planning and imagining tools this week. We finished reading our book ‘Some Places More Than Others’ and have written some super poems all about the people and places that make us who we are. We have also been making links with the poetry of Langston Hughes and his important role in the civil rights movement.

Coming Up

We are so excited that it is almost that time again!! Have you ordered your tree yet?

Please start sending in donations of toys and books, we especially want teddy bears this year!

Important Notice

Please note children in Nursery, Reception and Year 1 can be collected early at 3pm on Friday 8th Dec so families with the youngest children can enter the Winter Fair before it gets too busy. The rest of the School (Year 2 to Year 6) will finish at normal time, all the children in After School Club will be in the Upper Hall and will only be allowed to go to the Fair when they are collected by their Parent.

If you want to take your child to see Santa in his Grotto the slots from 3pm to 3.30pm will be reserved for children in these Year groups only. If older siblings are visiting Santa too you will need to book a slot for later in the afternoon as we will not be able to facilitate individual children in the older years being collected early. See poster to find out how to book your slot.

  • All children must be accompanied at the Fair.
  • Parents must supervise and take responsibility for their children at all times.
  • Visits to Santa’s Grotto must be pre- booked!
