Learning Journey – World of Culture

Dulwich Wood Running Club News

Miss Shaw took a team to an inter-school’s cross-country event on Tuesday, the competition was fierce, Lizzie (Y3) came second in her race and everyone else gave it their very best, real perseverance, well done everyone!

On Wednesday Running Club were invited to a bespoke training session from Trevor at Dulwich College track, they learnt some top tips and had great fun.

A Snapshot of our Week…

Reception: As we have continued to explore the text ‘Where the Wild Things Are’, we have been practising sequencing and retelling the story, and then acting it out as a class. We have also enjoyed writing messages to one of the wild things to help him found some lost items and using their imagining tool to draw huge pictures of the wild things to add them to the role play area.

Year 1: We have been using our imagining and empathy tool to write in the first person about Beegu’s feelings. We thought of adventurous adjectives to replace the words sad and happy in our writing.

Year 2: We have been using our making links tool in maths to explore the 2, 5 and 10 times table. We have also really enjoyed using our collaboration tool to prepare our World of Culture assembly for next week- we are so excited!

Year 3: We have been using our imagining tool to create our own versions of Sparky the Sloth. We have also been hard at work practising for our assembly next week and can’t wait to show you all!

Year 4: We have used our imagining tool brilliantly this week to finish our stories based on Tar Beach. We have absolutely loved reading our creations! We’ve also been using our perseverance tool to practise times tables, at school and at home!

Year 5: We visited St Olav’s ‘Sjømannskirken’ church in Rotherhithe. We used our asking questions tool to find out about culture and religion in Norway, as well as the history of Scandinavians in the London docklands.

Year 6: We have been making great use of our reasoning and empathy skills this week in discussions about our Big Question: What is cultural appropriation? We enjoyed listening respectfully to each other’s opinions and articulating our thoughts carefully.
