Learning Journey – World of Culture
The Conker Competition

Thank to the School Council & Ambassadors for organising a fantastic Conker Competition! The Eagles are in the lead but the final points from the creative competition are being tallied. The overall winner will be revealed in Assembly on Monday!

There were so many incredible entries for the ‘Creative Conker Competition’. First prize went to Lilianna for her London Eye masterpiece!

A Snapshot of our Week…

Reception: On Monday we discovered some mysterious creature had been in Reception!  One of the clues we found in a bag was the story ‘Where the Wild Things Are’.  The children have been really engaged with the story, playing in the Wild Forest that has ‘grown’ in our role play area, making crowns and drawing fabulous pictures of the Wild Things!

Year 1: We have been using our empathy tool in Literacy to write letters to help our friendly alien, who might be lost and lonely. The children have been fantastic at using bossy verbs to give clear instructions and conjunctions to extend their thoughts. In science we’ve carried out an investigation in which we used our five senses. It was great fun!

Year 2: This week we have loved using our empathy goggles to learn about the culture and physical features of different continents. We can’t wait to make a class travel magazine!

Year 3: We have been using our asking questions tool to work out if plants can grow without certain conditions. We have also been persevering in maths whilst ordering numbers all the way to 1,000

Year 4: We have been using our imagining tool to think about how we would feel, what we would see, hear, taste and smell whilst flying over London, like Cassie in our book Tar Beach, in readiness for writing our own versions of Tar Beach!

Year 5: We have been using our planning and reasoning tools to work out a good method of separating a very strange mixture of items! We then explored what worked and learnt that investigations sometimes require perseverance!

Year 6: We have been using our asking questions tool  in science this week to learn about how different living things have adapted to survive in their environment. We have shown excellent collaboration skills when researching different animals and plants.
