We are ready for a full reopening of all year groups
on Monday 8th March 2021
Many of you may have mixed emotions about returning to school. While we are all excited to join together again as a community, some people may feel anxious about what it will be like after a few months away from each other. Thank you to Holly (Y5) for writing about how it might feel going back to school.

School Attendance
School attendance will be mandatory from Monday 8th March 2021. This means that it is your legal duty as a parent to send your child (if they are of compulsory school age) to school every day. If they are not going to be in school then you must inform the school office on the first day of absence.
Wrap Around Care
We hope to be able to resume Wrap Around Care when we return from the Easter holidays (Monday 19th April).
Covid-19 Home School Agreement
We know from our experience in the Autumn Term that it is essential that the whole school community takes responsibility for keeping each other safe. This is why we are insisting that every family reads the Covid-19 Home School Agreement. Please read the agreement with your child to remind us of our expectations.
What measures are in place to minimise risk to your child?
Bubbles
Each Year group is a bubble. The aim of the system within the school is that, where possible, these bubbles mix only with each other from arrival at school in the morning until the children go home at the end of the school day. Each year group has their own designated space in the dining hall and on the playground to ensure that bubbles do not cross over.
Staggering start and finish times/arrangements
What time does my child start school?
All children can arrive at school between 8:35am – 8:55am. Children must arrive by 08:55am at the latest. Parents must respect social distancing at the designated gate and leave promptly once your child has gone into school or has been collected from school.

What happens if my child is late for school and their gate is closed?
In order to minimise risk to the school community, children must be on time for school. If your child arrives later than 8:55am you will need to telephone the office so we can arrange for your child to be escorted safely to their classroom.
What happens if I am late to collect my child at the end of the day?
In order to minimise risk to the school community, children must be collected promptly at the end of the day. If you are late to collect you will need to telephone the office to arrange to collect your child; children will not be permitted to sit in the school.
Can my child bring a bike or scooter to school?
We will continue to promote walking, cycling and scooting to school and will ensure that there is somewhere for your child to safely leave their bike.
Can I enter the school site?
Parents will not be permitted to enter the school site, children will be welcomed at the designated gate by a senior leader and returned to that gate at the end of the day.
Should you need to pick up your child at any time during the day this must be pre-arranged by telephone with the Office Staff.
What measures are in place to ensure high standards of hygiene?
- Sanitiser dispensers have been installed throughout the school e.g. at each entrance.
- Warm water and soap are available at every sink in the toilets, and in classrooms with sinks.
- A paper towel dispenser and bin have also been placed in all classroom toilets.
- Hand hygiene will be promoted and encouraged, and parents/guardians are asked to support the school in reinforcing this message.
- In accordance with the PHE guidelines, the school will be thoroughly cleaned at least once per day. Particular attention will be focused on frequently touched surfaces – door handles, handrails, chairs/arm rests, communal eating areas, sink and toilet facilities.
- All staff will have access to cleaning products and will be required to maintain cleanliness of their own work area. Staff should thoroughly clean and disinfect their work area before and after use each day.
- Waste will be collected regularly from all areas within the school.
Does my child need to wear school uniform?
Children will return to school in their school uniform. They will wear their PE Kit on PE days (same as Autumn Term).
How can I prepare my child for coming back to school?
- Reassure them that there will be lots of familiar adults who are there to help them and answer their questions.
- Remind them about how well they used their learning tool kit during the school closure.
- Talk about the Covid-19 Home School Agreement.
- Discuss all the fun events that are coming up (see below).
- See top tips for transitioning back to school here.
