#Backtoschool
Welcome back to school! It has been wonderful to see everyone back at Dulwich Wood and getting used to the new routines in place to keep us all safe.
Thank you to our parents/carers who have been so supportive and understanding of the new measures we have introduced to help us reopen our school. Everything in place is under constant review so please keep up to date through our weekly newsletter and website updates.
Year 4, 5, 6: Parents picking children up from the back gate need to be mindful that this is an accessible road, and we have seen how busy this area has become. Please do not park on this road, and collect your child directly from their class teacher on the school side of the road. Remember then to promptly move away from this area. Thank you for your support.
Friends of Dulwich Wood
Many thanks to our incredible ‘Friends of Dulwich Wood’ for raising the funds for us to purchase some exciting new things for our school. I would like to share some of the new additions to the school. Today the second-hand uniform sale has been a huge success and it will be repeated on Friday 2nd October.
Our new timetable stairs. We will all be practising and know them off by heart!
Â
Our new world map in the playground. Lots of opportunities for us to develop our mapping skills!
Lunches
Thank you for all the feedback on lunches and drink bottles. As always, our risk assessment is under constant review, and we are finding ways to accommodate needs as best as we can!
School Dinners
We will resume our hot meal service in the dining hall from Monday.
Can my child bring a packed lunch?
Yes! We understand that some children will want to bring a packed lunch. To minimise risk, we request that packed lunches are brought to school in disposal containers that will be placed in the bin at the end of lunch. We will not be able to store containers, or hold onto food not eaten.
Water Bottles
We want to ensure that children have access to water throughout the day. It is one of our Mindapples! Please bring in a water each Monday which will be kept at school, rinsed out thoroughly each day and refilled. Children can take this bottle home on Friday to be washed and refilled.
Wrap Around Care
When does wrap around care begin at Dulwich Wood?
We are pleased to announce that we will be able to offer After School Club (Emu Club) from Monday 14th September.
How will Emu Club be organised?
We will have 3 ‘bubble’ groups:
Early Years Bubble (Nursery & Reception)– based in the Reception Area
KS1 Bubble (Year 1 & Year 2) – based in the Upper Hall
KS2 Bubble (Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6) – based in the Lower Hall
How will I collect my children or contact the Emu Club?
You will be given the phone number for your child’s group for you to call when you are collecting your child. Your child will be brought to either the Reception gate or the main gate depending on which bubble they are in. For all other enquiries please contact the Primary Office on 0208 670 5470 or office@dulwichwood.com
When and how can I book Emu Club?
You will be able to book the After-School Club (Emu Club) through Schools Buddy from today.
When you log into Schools Buddy please select ‘booking open’ in the dashboard and choose the option Breakfast and Evening Club Autumn Term. Select your child; in the drop down menu select the bubble you require (group) and the event (Evening Session). You will then see a list of days to book (or select the days you require from the tick box at the top of the screen).
You have been sent an activation link for Schools Buddy, please contact the office if you need the link to be resent. Please contact the office if you are having any difficulty!
The booking system will only allow you to book 7 days in advance. This is to ensure that we have the required number of staff available for each bubble. We will not be able to offer flexi bookings at this time.
How much does it cost and can I use Childcare Vouchers on Schools Buddy?
There will be one fee for the afternoon of £10. You can use childcare vouchers, if your childcare voucher balance is not available on school’s buddy please contact the office.
Do you have before school club (Breakfast Club)?
We do not currently have before school club due to the staff numbers required to provide for the numerous bubbles. We will be reviewing this and will update you when it is possible for us to resume this service.
Home Learning
How can I support my child at home?
Please continue to read daily with your child, it’s one of the most beneficial things that you can do to support your child’s learning. We won’t be sending home any formal home learning this half term. We would like children to be happy and settle back into the school routine. We will be sending home reading books over the coming weeks. More information to follow.
What does my child wear on PE Days?
Children will wear their PE Kit to school on their PE days. They do not need to change at school. School uniform can be ordered via Schools Buddy.
When is my child’s PE Day?
