Our nursery is a place where children can learn and grow in lots of different ways. The teachers work hard to make sure the inside and outside spaces are fun and help children do their best.
Children can choose where they want to play and learn. There are lots of toys and materials that can be used in many ways. This helps children be curious, use their imagination, work together, and figure things out on their own.
We are lucky to have an enormous garden with beautiful mature trees and vegetable patches, as well as a mud kitchen, wood work area, bike track, music workshop, cosy reading shed, natural obstacle course and woodland stage.
Children have access to the garden all day whatever the weather. We consider changes in the weather such as snow, ice, wind and rain as exciting learning opportunities, not reasons to stay inside!
Forest School
We are located a stone’s throw from Sydenham Woods and take full advantage of this with weekly Forest School sessions.
As well as building an understanding of the natural world, we’ve seen first-hand how much these adventures add to children’s self-esteem, team building and leadership skills. Activities include mud painting, making natural necklaces, bug-hunting and building shelters.
The Sensory Room
The sensory room provides a peaceful and calming environment and is used to support children with additional needs.
Yoga
Yoga is a valuable tool that helps children develop self-regulation skills, reduce anxiety, and increase focus, confidence, and self-esteem.
At Dulwich Wood Nursery, we incorporate age-appropriate yoga sessions led by an experienced instructor to support children’s physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
