What Is the Breastfeeding Friendly Scheme?
The scheme recognises venues that actively support and welcome breastfeeding in public spaces. It’s not about adding new services or costly adjustments — it’s about fostering understanding, dignity, and comfort for parents feeding their babies.
When your venue joins the scheme, you’re saying loud and clear:

To Join the Scheme, Your Venue Must:
✅ Acknowledge that mothers have a legal right to breastfeed anywhere, and that breastfeeding is welcomed in all areas of the venue.
✅ Ensure breastfeeding patrons are not asked to move or cover up, even if others express discomfort
✅ Keep all public areas clean and hygienic
✅ Support privacy for mothers who request it, where possible.
✅ Display the scheme’s logo in a prominent place.
✅ Be open to sharing and promoting local breastfeeding support.
✅ Be able to signpost parents to local drop-in support sessions.
