The story follows a little girl called Shen who is given a special paintbrush that brings her paintings to life, but she is warned that the magic paintbrush must only be used to help the poor. This has inspired some great discussions about the difference between what we truly need and what we simply want. Using our <strong>empathy goggles<\/strong>, we have been thinking and writing about what we would paint to help people who are less fortunate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-37ab5e85f79165dd24cc418c155b86c4\" style=\"color:#008f00\"><strong>Year 1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-8f415f4dbb500c03bbde5b8c62ab7255\" style=\"color:#008f00\">Y1 were busy helping Astrid from the story \u2018<em>Astro Girl\u2019<\/em> to collect information about astronauts\u2019 lives in space. We are writing a fact file, using our <strong>imagining <\/strong>and <strong>making links<\/strong> tools to inspire other children who are dreaming about travelling to the International Space Station. It was amazing to see how all children rose to the challenge and <strong>asked questions<\/strong> to find out more about the topic: \u2018How astronauts sleep and eat in space?\u2019\u00a0Who knows, there might be someone from Dulwich Wood Primary who will become a space traveller one day!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-e83a4a307a82a8c7bf3339bcc52047a7\" style=\"color:#d3a21d\"><strong>Year 2<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-4b0ba86386971c94d1480aeab001ffb9\" style=\"color:#d3a21d\">We have loved watching our seeds begin to grow, carefully looking for changes each day! We have been comparing our seeds with each other and talking about what plants need to grow. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1766f601aa86b68b346b0b1bbac4e28a\" style=\"color:#6fb1e2\"><strong>Year 3<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-65d8ce2e45d00b565ddd2a67de1bdc0d\" style=\"color:#6fb1e2\">Y3 have been using their<strong> planning<\/strong> and<strong> empathy<\/strong> tools this week, writing in the role of Cassius and trying to convince Brutus to kill Caesar &#8211; it has all been very dramatic! We have also used our <strong>collaboration<\/strong> tool to role play our problem solving skills in PSHE.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-cd91c559e27d217acc5c590f76e57591\" style=\"color:#659c38\"><strong>Year 4 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-c31b3cb0597d9ce8fdc885cedc0c45bf\" style=\"color:#659c38\">Year 4 have had an exciting week, <strong>collaborating<\/strong> and experimenting with electricity (Cypress) and programming in Scratch (Ash) \u2013 vice versa next week \u2013 then having a whole day of Anglo-Saxon crafting on Friday. We\u2019ve also used our <strong>planning <\/strong>and <strong>perseverance tools <\/strong>to perfect our Shakespearean scenes, ready for performance!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-19046f4847c61dd3cf07ef7b4c8a584d\" style=\"color:#2d53ab\"><strong>Year 5<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-e19f6aebeca80aa935cf928b27a6355f\" style=\"color:#2d53ab\">This week, Y5 finished reading <em>The Tempest<\/em>&nbsp;and used their <strong>making links<\/strong>&nbsp;tool to consider the key decisions made by different characters and how these choices shaped the story. In Art, they used their <strong>planning<\/strong> tool to sketch&nbsp;<em>The Scream<\/em>&nbsp;by Edvard Munch. Next lesson, they will begin adding oil pastel to develop colour and emotion in their work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-807e1a4d9fbc33c87d1cb1bc26ca53c1\" style=\"color:#008f00\"><strong>Year 6<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-52dd8956ec88fc88040dfcb39d88fbf5\" style=\"color:#008f00\">Y6 have had a brilliant week, which began with a trip to the Natural History Museum as part of our Learning Journey: Global Identities. Can you help inspire our children about where science can take them in the future?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>British Science Week is taking place between the <strong>6-15<sup>th<\/sup> March<\/strong> and this year\u2019s theme is <strong>\u2018Curiosity: What is your Question?\u2019<\/strong>. We are looking for volunteers to bring real-life examples of STEM careers into school and answer the children\u2019s questions about what they do at work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Science\u2019 is being treated in the broadest sense here, so we aren\u2019t expecting you to be a scientist who works in a lab and wears a white coat. In fact, we want to help break stereotypes and offer the children an insight into how science is used in a huge variety of careers and in lots of different ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Are you a chef, a vet, a nurse, a pharmacist, a dentist? Do you use computers or technology? Does your job involve engineering? Do you work with nature?
