We have had an incredible mural spray painted in the meadow area. Many thanks to the Friends of Dulwich Wood, in particular Rachel (Rebekah’s Mum) who has driven this project. It is inspired by our diverse and united school community who continually show us that ‘love’ will conquer everything! <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Show Racism the Red Card Day – Friday 17th October<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today we wore red to show that we are anti-racist. We had a fantastic parade around the playground and raised money for the Show Racism the Red Card<\/strong><\/strong> <\/a>charity by purchasing wrist bands and badges.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Reception<\/strong>: We wrapped up our work around \u2018Where the Wild Things Are\u2019 on a real high! Each class used their wild imagining<\/strong> tool to create their own version of the story, changing details like the mischief Max gets up to, his means of transportation, and how the Wild Things celebrate with King Max. The children then worked together to perform their own unique retelling \u2014 with plenty of creativity and enthusiasm!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 1<\/strong> said goodbye to their friendly alien visitor Beegu as she returned to her home planet. To celebrate her journey, the children created fact files all about Beegu. We were especially impressed by how they used their planning<\/strong> and imagining<\/strong> tools throughout the activity. They included adjectives to describe what Beegu looks like, what she enjoys eating, and where she lives. The children also practised joining ideas using the conjunction \u2018and\u2019. Well done, Year 1 \u2013 fantastic work!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 2<\/strong> have been using their imagining<\/strong> tool to create amazing mosaic works of art. They have also used their perseverance<\/strong> tool to improve them by adding more paint this week to make them shine! We are so proud of their artistic skills and how much effort they have put in. Year 2 are such a creative group!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 3<\/strong> have been using our perseverance<\/strong> and collaboration<\/strong> tool this week to really get to grips with adding and subtracting numbers across 10s and 100s. Using dienes and place value counters has been so useful in building a strong foundation and understanding. We have also used our planning<\/strong> tools to plan and write our own versions of Sparky in Literacy. We are all excited to see how the stories turn out! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 4<\/strong> have been using their imagining <\/strong>and planning<\/strong> skills to create their own mythical sea creatures and write exciting, mysterious stories featuring their characters. They\u2019ve been working hard to include a range of fronted adverbials to make their writing even more engaging. In maths, the children have shown great perseverance<\/strong> as they learn different strategies to tackle new concepts, and they are making fantastic progress!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 5<\/strong> visited the British Museum to start off our history topic on Ancient Greece. We made fantastic use of our asking questions <\/strong>and making links<\/strong> tools, showing curiosity and making thoughtful connections between the artifacts of our new learning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Year 6<\/strong> have been using their reasoning<\/strong> and perseverance<\/strong> tools to edit their first extended piece of writing this week. They have also continued with their practice of long division, which has been hard work, but they have persevered<\/strong> and developed their confidence and proficiency.

If you have any concerns about your child’s learning, or queries about the curriculum, this is not the forum! Please email the office and your query will be addressed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lost Property<\/strong>: Please make sure that you put your child\u2019s name in all their uniform and we can reunite your child with their lost item. Any unclaimed items at the end of this half-term will be given to ‘The Friends’ to sell at their second-hand uniform sale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second-hand Uniform<\/strong>: ‘The Friends’ have a large stock of good second-hand uniform. No more donations are needed thank you! They will be holding another second-hand uniform sale during the Autumn term. Date TBC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flu Vaccination: <\/strong>You have the opportunity for your child to be vaccinated at school on Thu 13th Nov (you have already received an email to give your consent). If you would prefer to attend one of Southwark’s Flu Clinics please see the dates below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
