Autumn Term Learning Journey – Your Mind Matters<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Reception<\/strong> : It has been wonderful to welcome all the children into Reception this week. While some are taking a little more time to settle, they are all happily getting used to the new routines, exploring the environment, and making lovely new friendships. Thank you to all our lovely families for your support in helping the children make such a positive start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Year 1<\/strong> have settled so well in their new classrooms! We are so proud how ready they were to start using their new books and have been making links<\/strong> with our new story: \u2018Peace on Earth\u2019. The children were so creative using their imagining <\/strong>tool to create a \u2018Peace Emporium\u2019 in our playground. Well done for the first fantastic and fun week!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 2<\/strong> have enjoyed making links<\/strong> with their maths knowledge to help them identify the tens and ones in two-digit numbers. We have also been using our empathy goggles<\/strong> to think about our friends and how we can look after each other! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Year 3<\/strong> have had a brilliant start to the new school year. We made great use of our collaboration<\/strong> tool to learn and perform part of the poem in our new book ‘Peace on Earth’. We then enjoyed using our imagining<\/strong> tool to create our own beautiful poems on the theme of peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 4<\/strong> have sunk our teeth into our first Science topic, learning about our different teeth and making links<\/strong> with our knowledge of different animals. We have been asking lots of questions<\/strong> across all our lessons as we start the year!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Year 5<\/strong> used our imagining<\/strong> tool to write a poem based on the book ‘Peace on Earth’ by Smriti Halls. We used our planning<\/strong> tool over a number of days to come up with interesting noun phrases that we could use in our poems. We also used our collaboration<\/strong> tool to help each other try and learn some of the poem off by heart!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Year 6<\/strong> have had such a fabulous start to the new year! They have come back demonstrating their understanding of every tool in the Dulwich Wood Toolkit<\/strong>, and showing a genuine readiness to rise to the challenges ahead – and their enthusiasm is infectious! We could not be prouder of them! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

School Council <\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Last Friday the children met in their houses to hear the incredible house captain speeches delivered by Y6. The children then voted for their representative. Well done to all the children who stood up in front of their peers to outline the reasons why they should be chosen. We have a newly-elected School Council and we are looking forward to implementing your ideas!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We would like to invite you to tour the school with your child on Tuesday afternoon from 3:20pm – 4:15pm. You can say hello to your child’s class teacher, look at the classrooms and find out about your child’s favourite places in the school! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
