Summer Term Learning Journey – The Future is Ours<\/h5>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Reception:<\/strong> As part of our history curriculum, we have had some interesting discussions to understand the meaning of past and present by reading the story \u2018The Great Fire of Tooley Street\u2019 by Sue Rogers. To support our understanding of this historic event we have been learning facts about the River Thames. The children have been wonderful at using their asking questions<\/strong> learning tool to find out even more information about this landmark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Year 1<\/strong>: Well done to everyone during phonics check week. You did a fantastic job and we are all really proud of you all! In science we made our predictions about which objects we thought would \u2018sink\u2019 or \u2018float\u2019. We used our making links<\/strong> and reasoning<\/strong> tools to discuss our past experiences and when explaining why we thought certain objects would float or sink. Check back next week to find out the results!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 2<\/strong> loved using their collaboration<\/strong>, empathy<\/strong> and making links<\/strong> tools in science. We went to our Nursery to deepen our understanding of animals and their young by learning about how to care for the newly-hatched chicks. While we were there, we enjoyed reading with the younger children and showing what amazing role models we are. We also welcomed 5 caterpillars to each class to help us understand how some animals metamorphose before going into adult form. We are excited to see this process happen in real time!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 3<\/strong> had a fantastic trip to the Natural History Museum, where we used our making links<\/strong> tool whilst looking at Volcano displays and Mary Anning’s famous Ichthyosaur. It was extremely busy but they all behaved excellently and were so polite when waiting for their turn to look at the different exhibitions!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 4<\/strong> have used their asking questions<\/strong> and reasoning <\/strong>tools to understand sound as vibration, by creating string telephones. We have also unearthed some future rappers through persevering <\/strong>and collaborating <\/strong>to learn and perform \u2018Jackdaw\u2019 by Robert Macfarlane!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Year 5<\/strong> have been using their perseverance<\/strong> tool as they completed practice SATs assessments this week, showing incredible determination and giving their best effort throughout. We also used our reasoning<\/strong> tool in science to understand and explain why we only ever see one side of the Moon from Earth. It’s been a week full of resilience and curiosity!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 6<\/strong> have had a great week filled with exciting things. We have been using our collaboration<\/strong> and imagining <\/strong>tools whilst preparing for our Enterprise week and completing our prequels to our text ‘Paradise Sands’. Yesterday, we went to Chessington World of Adventures, where we used our empathy<\/strong> goggles and perseverance<\/strong> tools (some of us overcoming our fears) during the whole day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Primary School Sports Day <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sports Day will be held on Wednesday 9th July<\/strong> at the Dulwich College Track. Year 1 – Year 6 events will take place in the morning before lunch and Reception events will take place in the afternoon. We will provide more details closer to the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Summer 2 all the year groups will be delivering their RSE lesson sequence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please read the Relationships and Sex Education Policy<\/a> so you know what your child will be learning about and how best to support them at home to talk about this learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lessons are inline with national guidance and are all age-appropriate. If, after reading the policy, you have any questions please contact Miss Bristow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
