Spring Term Learning Journey – Our World Through Time <\/h5>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Reception<\/strong>: to introduce our unit around healthy eating and good habits, we had a very exciting food tasting session that included mango, pomegranate, celery, plantain crisps, spinach and dates. The children were very adventurous and open-minded  to give everything a good go. They then did a great job at explaining which things they had enjoyed and tried giving reasons for this, as well as the ones they didn\u2019t like that much, which will lead us nicely into the book we will start reading next week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 1<\/strong>: it has been a great start to the new term with our science project showing new discoveries that made us use our asking question<\/strong> tool. Did you know, the greenhouse isn\u2019t the best place to plant a bean? It makes the leaves dry up very quickly! We also began learning about length and height in maths, using our reasoning<\/strong> skill to compare different objects and explain how we know which object is the taller, shorter or longer one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 2<\/strong> really enjoyed using their asking questions<\/strong> and reasoning <\/strong>tools as we started our new topic in science – living things and their habitats. We made actions to help us remember the 7 life processes that living things must do and then used our collaboration tools to group pictures into living, non-living and never alive. We had some very interesting discussions about whether a newspaper used to be alive when it was a tree!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 3<\/strong> have been using their imagining <\/strong>tool to envisage how Mary Anning must have felt when she was a young fossil hunter. We acted out a scene where she was struck by lightning and tried to imagine how we would feel if we were her dad!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Year 4<\/strong> have excitedly explored how Howard Carter unearthed Tutankhamun’s tomb, and used our imagining<\/strong> and asking questions<\/strong> tools to write about and in role as Carter. We have also been practising multiplication facts ready for our multiplication check in June!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Year 5<\/strong> have started our new history topic – The Vikings! We have been using sources to ask questions<\/strong> about the Vikings and make links<\/strong>. In Literacy, we have used our imagining<\/strong> tool to create an advert for NASA and have started planning our non-chronological reports!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Year 6<\/strong> have had a great start to the new term. We have been using our collaboration<\/strong> and making links<\/strong> tools during our preparation for the upcoming SATs tests. Also, we have been using our imagining<\/strong> tool to create our own Manga (Japanese graphic novels), drawing, and writing our own fictional stories. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
