Spring Term Learning Journey – All the World’s a Stage <\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Reception: <\/strong>This week we have been inspired by how Joe in \u2019The Extraordinary Gardener\u2019 helped to create a world less dull and ordinary. We all had a go at planting some seeds and after that, we went all out using our planning<\/strong> tool as well as our imagining<\/strong> tool to design our own dream gardens. We then wrote some fabulous sentences describing what makes them extraordinary!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 1<\/strong>: It has been a fantastic week of maths learning using our making links<\/strong> tool to compare the weight of different objects and our reasoning<\/strong> tool to explain our answers using the new vocabulary we have learnt. Ask your child about the new actions we have been practising to help us remember heavier, lighter and balanced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 2<\/strong>: We were very excited to join Rosie Revere’s engineering academy! We have used our whole toolkit <\/strong>to learn about different types of bridges and what makes them strong. We are looking forward to using our planning <\/strong>tool to design our own bascule bridge just like Tower Bridge. We also found out that Tower Bridge was built during the reign of Queen Victoria – what a link!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 3<\/strong> have started looking at Cloud Tea Monkeys and have become masters of tea testing. We had to use our reasoning<\/strong> tool to write instructions on how to be master tea testers. We also used our empathy <\/strong>goggles to try and put ourselves into the shoes of a child working on a tea plantation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 4<\/strong>: As next half term is a particularly short one, Year 4 have been very excited to start our new topic about the ancient Egyptians early this week! We have used our asking questions<\/strong> and planning<\/strong> tools to complete research about ancient Egyptian lifestyles and presented our new learning in information leaflets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 5<\/strong> have been using their planning<\/strong> and imagining<\/strong> tools to plan and write a scene of ‘The Tempest’. We considered how we could bring comedy to the scene and included metaphors and relative clauses. We have also used our collaboration<\/strong> tool during our amazing samba performance!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 6<\/strong> have continued writing their Gothic tales, using their imagining <\/strong>tool to create detailed setting and character descriptions. They have been thinking critically about their writing; searching for ways to improve and edit their writing; actively searching for synonyms and using subject – specific vocabulary. We’re hoping to publish our works in a class book full of Gothic tales to add to our library\u2026watch this space!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
