We all loved the dragon that Shen started to paint in order to get rid of the mean Emperor so that he would leave her village alone. We have used lots of <strong>imagination<\/strong> to draw our own dragons, we discussed the features that make them fierce and then applied our phonics knowledge to label those features. We finished our work by giving each dragon a special name using a compound word (two words joined together to create a new word)!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-73f8527c65455a6956988ed6c76d281f wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#d3a21d\"><strong>Year 1<\/strong> really enjoyed their computing lesson this week. We used our <strong>collaboration<\/strong> and <strong>imagining<\/strong> tools to create colourful pictures of flowers using the Paint programme\u2019s different tools and features. We then compared the main features of a laptop and desktop computer and learnt that the main part of a desktop is called a base unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-c963c451cf3865eb60dc6f63319b3bbf wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#659c38\"><strong>Year 2<\/strong> enjoyed using their <strong>reasoning<\/strong> and <strong>making links<\/strong> tools in history as we learned about another influential monarch &#8211; Queen Victoria. We investigated some mysterious clues and made predictions about what they might tell us about Victoria&#8217;s reign. We thought about how life had changed since the reign of Queen Elizabeth I and how it was still very different from our life today.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-e26a83525b090728dc9204cbae45fdd2 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#d3a21d\"><strong>Year 3<\/strong> have used their <strong>imagining<\/strong> tool to write incredible versions of &#8216;Our Tower&#8217;. We have really taken our time to carefully select exciting adjectives and verbs and the outcome has been fantastic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-cb9ffd9898d380a556c8bf4ef2346806 wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#2d53ab\"><strong>Year 4<\/strong> have used their <strong>planning <\/strong>and <strong>empathy<\/strong> tools to write a formal letter of advice to the farmers in the Iron Man story! We have also finished our fractions topic &#8211; using our <strong>perseverance <\/strong>tool to help us convert mixed numbers to improper fractions! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-d16f3b4e6c29bd9c94a7ee8faf814cbe wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#6fb1e2\"><strong>Year 5 <\/strong>have been using their <strong>reasoning<\/strong> tool in our history lessons to think about different city states in Ancient Greece. We discussed and debated whether we would prefer to live in Sparta or Athens. Many of us sensibly decided we would rather live in neither!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:100px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-d05d30155140f6face81e32205110cab wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#d3a21d\"><strong>Year 6<\/strong> began the week with our second author visit, using our<strong> asking questions<\/strong> tool to gain a deeper insight into the mind of Jennifer Killick as she releases yet another instalment of her series. Using our <strong>perseverance<\/strong> tool, we then completed a round of SATs practice tests, showcasing our amazing learning. Finally, we ended the week with a trip to our local woods, where we were foraging for a variety of mushrooms and fungi &#8211; linked to our science. Both teams performed fantastically well, coming first and second respectively. For these children it was their first time in an actual competition and they made everyone at Dulwich Wood proud. We all had a fun and enjoyable experience.
