Lunar New Year Assembly<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank you to Reception for sharing all their learning about Lunar New Year and teaching us the lion dance! Kong Hei Fat Choi!<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Reception: <\/strong>After discovering a mysterious paintbrush with a note in our classroom, we found a parcel with the story \u2019The Magic Paintbrush\u2019. The main character is a little girl called Shen, who is given a very special paintbrush that will make all her paintings come to life. However, Shen is warned that the magic paintbrush can only be used to help the poor. This has sparked some great discussions about the difference between things that we really need and things that we just want. We have been using our empathy goggles<\/strong> to think about what we would paint to help the poor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Year 1<\/strong>: We used our imagining<\/strong> tool to begin writing our new stories based on the book ‘The Magic Bed’. The children were great at adding adjectives to their writing to make it more interesting for the reader. We also had lots of fun creating \u2018messy maps\u2019 in our Geography lesson. The children used their collaboration<\/strong> tool to create an aerial view of the classroom. Why don\u2019t you try making one at home?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 2<\/strong> have loved learning about ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ in English. We have been using our imagining<\/strong> tools and asking questions<\/strong> tools to explore the magical forest where Oberon and Titania are arguing. We used our senses and some drama activities to help us write a setting description with some exciting vocabulary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 3<\/strong> have been using their planning <\/strong>tool in order to start writing our own version of ‘Our Tower’. We also took part in the Big Garden Birdwatch and were very excited by the birds we saw from our school grounds!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Year 4<\/strong> have finished our learning about ‘Macbeth’ by performing the scripts we had written based on a missing scene of the play. The children used their planning<\/strong>, empathy <\/strong>and imagining<\/strong> tools brilliantly. We had lots of fun and acted out a range of stage directions beautifully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Year 5 <\/strong>have been busy using their collaboration <\/strong>and perseverance<\/strong> tools to learn how to play Samba music as a part of a group. In history, we\u2019ve used our reasoning<\/strong> tool to weigh up the pros and cons of democracy in Ancient Greece. We have also used our making links<\/strong> tool to compare the similarities and differences of the original Olympics with the modern day version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 6<\/strong> have come to the end of our Shakespearean journey through Romeo and Juliet, discovering the tragedies of their lives. Using our reasoning<\/strong> and planning<\/strong> tools, we have written balanced arguments to convince a jury who was to blame. In maths, we have been enjoying our algebra unit, forming expressions and solving equations using our making links<\/strong> and perseverance<\/strong> tools. We discovered that we have actually already learnt some forms of algebra (missing number questions) and have been solving them since Year 1!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NSPCC Number Day – Friday 7th Feb<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will be raising money for the NSPCC next Friday! You can dress up as a number and bring \u00a31 to donate. We will have a special assembly, then do lots of fun number activities! Children may be filmed\/photographed during the assembly by the NSPCC Press Team. If you don’t want your child to be filmed\/photographed please let the office know.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
