Learning Journey: Sense of Community <\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Our Learning this week: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Reception:<\/strong> We completed our learning around, \u2018Where the Wild Things Are\u2019 on a high, with each class applying all their wild imagination to create their own version of the story by changing some aspects of it . The children then worked collaboratively to perform their own version of the story for the other class!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Year 1<\/strong>: We have been learning all about the Notting Hill Carnival and making links between how, and why, Claudia Jones helped to create the carnival. We used our imagining<\/strong> tool to design our own masks which we will make with Miss Harwood during our Art lesson next week. We can\u2019t wait to show you our finished masks!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Year 2<\/strong>: We have been using our empathy<\/strong> goggles and making links<\/strong> tool to plan our own version of Oliver Jeffers’ book, ‘Here we are’. We are writing our own ‘notes for living on planet Earth’ and have worked together to write some thoughtful advice about looking after our planet, our bodies and each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Year 3<\/strong>: We have been having lots of fun in science, learning all about our bones and how they provide support for our body and protect our organs. We used our collaboration<\/strong> and making links<\/strong> tools to create some wonderful life-size skeletons!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Year 4<\/strong>: We have been using our planning<\/strong> tool to plan a factual report about the Windrush generation, as well as making links<\/strong> between our literacy text and our history topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Year 5<\/strong>: We have been using our asking questions <\/strong>and empathy <\/strong>tools to understand a playscript. We have tried to put ourselves in the shoes of the different characters and imagine what they are thinking and feeling. All of this learning will then help inform the play rehearsals with facilitators from The Old Vic theatre this term!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Year 6<\/strong>: We have been using our perseverance<\/strong> tool during our first assessment week. Year 6 have used managing distractions<\/strong> and making links<\/strong> tools, enabling them to showcase all of their learning so far. In Literacy, we have been writing an extended blog in the role of Leila about the life lessons she has learnt during her time in Norway. Look out for the QR code to listen to some of our blogs!

Cross Country Competition:<\/strong> Yesterday Dulwich Wood attended our second cross country meet. We took 36 students to run and every single one of the children did an amazing job. We took 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in multiple races and, even though we are waiting for an official result from the organiser, Miss Sinead and I are quietly confident… from Mr Sean<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank you to Mr Greenwood, Mr Sean and all the parents for taking the children to compete!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
